T-Mobile Introduces Early Black Friday Free Tablet Promo
Just as Black Friday is fast approaching, T-Mobile is launching a special promo that offers a free 7-inch Android tablet to its existing subscribers. Beginning November 21st, current customers of T-Mobile can get a new tablet that comes with a data service plan starting at $10 per month for 1 gigabyte of data. The tablet up for grabs is the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 tablet. This device is normally priced at $168 at T-Mobile.
The Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 is a 4G-compatible tablet that runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean mobile operating system. Measuring at 7 inches, this device also sports a 1.3 dual-core processor, plus 1 gigabyte of random access memory (RAM). It is also equipped with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and a battery that promises 280 hours of standby time. One of the slimmest 3G tablets available today, the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 measures only 8.9 millimeters thick and weighs 285 grams.
Wireless carriers, even the major ones, have often depended on the appeal of tablets in order to attract subscribers and even boost revenue from data service fees. T-Mobile is no exception -- while the carrier has sustained losses during the third quarter, it has boldly increased its monthly subscriber forecast by about 1 million customers, projecting a total of 4.7 million subscribers this year.
For new customers, the free tablet promo will start on November 22nd. If they want to avail of the promo, they will be required to have a service plan that starts at $20 per month for 1 gigabyte of data.
Black Friday, which refers to the day after Thanksgiving, is considered in the United States as one of the biggest shopping days in the whole year. So it would make sense that a lot of businesses would be launching their own promos at this time of the year.
T-Mobile is certainly joining in on the fun. And apart from the free tablet promo, the carrier also announced that on November 21st, current subscribers of T-Mobile will be able to enjoy $100 off if they purchase either the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone or the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
Yes, it would have been perfect if T-Mobile also included the recently released Galaxy Note 4 phablet and the Galaxy Note Edge "curved-side" smartphone in this Black Friday deal. Still, the Samsung S5 smartphone and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are not bad options by any measure.
