T-Mobile Makes 3 Changes to Pollicy on Device Upgrades
T-Mobile is making device upgrades easier for its customers, according to a leaked internal memo obtained by The Mobile Report. The memo reveals that T-Mobile is streamlining the process, allowing customers to upgrade their devices without needing to visit a physical store.
Customers can now complete the entire upgrade process from the comfort of their homes using the T-Mobile website or the T Life/T-Mobile app. To upgrade, users simply need to provide details about their current device, select their new preferred device, and complete the remaining steps online.
T-Mobile is also addressing three key areas of concern in its phone upgrade process:
-
Clearer Cart Summaries: Customers will now see a more detailed and easy-to-understand summary in their cart, reducing confusion about transaction details. This improvement is expected to decrease the volume of related customer service calls.
-
No Minimum EIP Cost for Online Accessory Purchases: T-Mobile is removing the $49.99 minimum Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) cost for accessory purchases made online. However, this change does not apply to in-store purchases, where the minimum cost still applies to add accessories to an EIP.
-
Simplified Trade-In Value Application: T-Mobile will now apply the entire trade-in value directly to the recurring device credits (RDC), eliminating the previous separation between the trade-in value and promotional amounts. This change aims to make the trade-in value application less confusing for customers.
These updates were said to roll out on August 29, 2024.
