Vivo Unveils The V5 Plus And V5 Lite

Vivo took the opportunity to officially introduce a couple of new smartphone offerings -- the V5 Plus and the V5 Lite. Perhaps the most attractive attribute of the more high end V5 Plus is the dual camera configuration on its front side, while the V5 Lite is basically a low end option that belongs to the V5 lineup of handsets.

The dual SIM ready V5 Plus sports a 5.5 inch full HD display screen, with a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels. Inside its sleek frame, it packs a 2.0 GigaHertz eight core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chip set, paired nicely with 4 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) and 64 gigabytes of built in memory. It also has a 3,160 mAh battery, a fingerprint reader, and is powered by Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow mobile operating system.

As for the V5 Lite, it possesses a 5.5 inch HD IPS display screen, featuring a resolution of 1,280 by 720 pixels, and complemented nicely with a 13 megapixel main camera on the rear side, as well as an impressive 16 megapixel selfie shooter on the front side. As far as hardware specifications are concerned, the V5 Lite offers a 64 bit eight core processor, supported by 3 gigabytes of RAM and 32 gigabytes of onboard storage. It packs a 3,000 mAh battery and like the V5 Plus, runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

As mentioned earlier, Vivo appears to be putting more attention to boosting the camera specifications on its latest addition to the V5 family of smartphones. For instance, the V5 Plus features a 16 megapixel camera on the rear side, replete with LED flash. But it is in the dual camera set up is where things really get interesting. The configuration consists of a 20 megapixel camera and an 8 megapixel camera doing some teamwork, with the former boasting a Sony IMX376 ½.78 inch sensor with f/2.0 aperture and the latter taking care of the depth of field aspects of capturing quality images. For photography enthusiasts, the preceding sentence should give them an idea that, yes, the V5 Plus allows for Bokeh effects, but on selfie shots.

With regards to the V5 Lite’s camera specs, users should be interested in the Selfie Spotlight feature, which offers the ability to create lighting effects needed to generate top quality self portraits, because why not.
