Imus Returns to TV, but You'll Need Satellite TV to See Him

Don Imus will return on December 3rd, broadcasting his morning show on WABC-AM in New York. Eventually, Citadel Broadcasting, the owners of WABC, will likely syndicate the show to other radio stations around the country.

Imus is also returning to TV on December 3rd. His radio show, formerly simulcast on MSNBC, will now be on RFD-TV. Self-billed as "Rural America's Most Important Network", RFD serves up a variety of programming related to farming, ranching and other interests of rural America.

Disney Mobile Shutting Down

Like its sister company, Mobile ESPN, Walt Disney's attempt at building a cell phone company has failed. Disney Mobile will cease operations at the end of the year, with voice, messaging and Family Center services ending at that time. Existing Disney Mobile customers can cancel service before that, without termination penalty, as long as their bills are paid in full. It looks like there will also be some sort of reimbursement program for the phones and accessories customers bought, although details aren't yet available.

Want 10% Back on your AT&T Wireless Bill?

In one of our prior posts, we spoke about the free cell phone insurance benefit available with the new AT & T Universal Savings & Reward Card. That feature applies regardless of carrier.

However, for AT&T and former Cingular customers, there is an even better benefit. The card will reimburse you up to 10% of the cost of AT&T products and services, including your wireless phone bill, for 12 months; 5% thereafter.

Free Cell Phone Insurance

The recently upgraded AT&T Universal Savings & Reward Card offers up to $100 reimbursement (after a $50 deductible) if your cell phone (any carrier) is lost or stolen. This won’t fully cover you if you have an expensive phone, but it could be useful for many of us. This benefit comes at no cost when you get the Card. Some restrictions apply; see the offer for full details.

The AT&T Universal card has no annual fee and offers a 0% introductory APR on balance transfers for 12 months.

AT&T Parental Controls

It's a question we get fairly often... how do I better control my child's wireless experience? One solution has just been introduced by AT&T. Called Smart Limits, this $4.99 per-line monthly feature (you didn't think they would do this for free did you??) lets parents set limits on when a wireless phone can make and receive calls (and from whom), as well as restrict text messages, talk time, ringtones and other downloads.

Search Phones by Color

The MyRatePlan interactive PhoneFinder, already the best (okay, we're biased) tool of its kind available has been enhanced further with the addition of a filter for colors. Now, in addition to finding those phones that have the exact price and features you want, you can also see if one exists in red, blue, pink or about 10 other colors.

Priceline Waives Booking Fees

UPDATE: Booking fees now waived until September 3rd!

If you are booking a trip online this month (travel can be in future months), you might want to do it through Priceline. They are waiving booking fees for all trips booked by July 4th. Note that is doesn't apply to the "Name your own price" stuff, but it will save you some money on all other trips booked through Priceline.

The iPhone Arrives June 29

Very few products have gotten the amount of free publicity that the Apple iPhone has gotten since it was announced in January. The phone will finally be available during June, and will serve as a great marketing platform for the reintroduction of AT&T --- the Cingular name will likely disappear for good this month as well.

Colorful Phones

One of the major trends in phones this year is color. Many of the most popular phones are seeing their time on the market extended as new hues are released. Here's a list of some popular phones and their color variations:

Live TV on your Phone

Verizon is now offering streaming LIVE television broadcasts, available in select cities. Only a couple of recently-released headsets are capable of supporting this feature. As of this writing, these include the LG VX9400 and the Samsung U620. For $15 to $25 a month, you get 8 channels, including Comedy Central, ESPN and MTV. For more on this feature, click here.
