Apple Pay Partners With 24 NPOs

Apple has joined forces with 24 nonprofit organizations in order to let mobile users make full use of Apple Pay, the tech giant’s mobile operating system, in donating money to charity. Beginning this week, people can make their donations by way of Apple’s contactless mode of payment to charities that include the American Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children, and the World Wildlife Federation. Apple also revealed that a number of similar organizations like the American Cancer Society, United Way and DonorsChoose.org will be integrating with Apple Pay in the next weeks to come.

Apple is no stranger to teaming up with nonprofit organizations. As a matter of fact, the company has always allowed mobile users to purchase special mobile apps or make donations by way of iTunes. However with Apple Pay, the iPhone maker has basically made the donation process easier, and along the way, provide a means in which generous people can really follow through with their plans for giving to charity.

And nonprofit organizations could not have picked a better choice for a mobile payment system to partner with. Among similar payment systems made available out there, Apple’s appears to be the most popular. According to Jennifer Bailey, the vice president of Apple Pay, various websites and mobile apps have told Apple that they are seeing double the number of users completing payment transactions using Apple Pay compared to any other contactless mode of payment.

For those still not familiar with Apple Pay, it has now been about a couple of years since Apple debuted its mobile payment system. The service has since expanded to let consumers purchase all sorts of things, including orders at McDonalds, or items bought online or through mobile apps. Because customers authenticate transactions using their fingerprints, the whole payment process is made secure.

Apple Pay has also steadily expanded its coverage. Apple’s mobile payment system is now made available in a dozen markets around the world, including Australia, China, and Russia. In America, almost 90 percent of all mobile payments are completed via Apple Pay. Moreover, over 50 percent of Apple Pay transactions now come from markets outside the United States.
