On Monday, President Obama sent shockwaves through the internet with his proposal to the FCC regarding the future of net neutrality. Both his written statement and video message regarding the laws governing net neutrality can be seen as a huge win for people who believe the internet should remain open and free.
When it comes to Internet service, consumers in the United States pay a much higher cost than other countries. The problem is that despite the astronomical rates, the service is much slower in the US than what can be found internationally. However, some small towns are looking to bring about a change.

Verizon and many other cable, internet, and home phone service companies have been offering double-play and triple-play bundles for years. These bundles allow consumers to combine TV, home phone service, and high-speed Internet into one package in order to save money. Starting this week, however, Verizon is now offering a quad-play bundle that will not only include cable TV, home phone service, and broadband Internet, but will also allow customers to bundle their wireless phone service in as well.

If you’ve flown in the past year or two, you know that the airlines have made flying an a la carte ordeal, charging fees for almost everything. Checking bags, pillows, blankets, snacks are all things that now cost money on different airlines. One airline is even making passengers chip in to pay for the crew. Okay, I made that up, but it is true that one airline is going to start charging a fee to buy a ticket

Let’s start with the bottom line here: Don’t take out a loan or advance on the tax refund that you are expecting. Period. End of story. If you want your money quickly, just file electronically and tell the IRS to direct deposit your refund to your bank account. If you made $56,000 or less in 2008, you may qualify to file your federal taxes for free. If you do direct deposit, and there aren’t any issues, you’ll have your refund in two weeks or less— it may take another week or so if the IRS mails your check. After you file, you can check the
