Verizon alerts customers of recent hack
Earlier this week, Verizon faced a data breach that it says only affected a low number of its customers.
As reported by PhoneArena, the third party actor only managed to hack around 250 prepaid wireless accounts between October 6 and 10.
As revealed by Verizon, there were unauthorized SIM card changes that took place on the hacked accounts. The company says it has alerted affected customers and advised them to change their PIN as soon as they can. In addition to this, Big Red has enacted additional measures in place to protect further unauthorized access or fraud, especially with the breached accounts.
The carrier has reversed the unauthorized SIM changes already. Not to mention, they guarantee their customers that private information was not accessed by the hackers except for customers’ names, phone numbers, billing addresses, price plans, and service-related information. No banking details, passwords, tax IDs, and Social Security numbers were accessed in the breach.
