Your Guide To Choosing A Smartwatch

Your Guide To Choosing A Smartwatch

Smartwatches are not new. A number of smartwatches have been introduced by various mobile manufacturers over the years with limited success. But this year seems like a very good year for smartwatches in general. We have seen lots of new smartwatches being released (or soon to be) in the market. Even Will.i.am (of The Black Eyed Peas) is releasing his own brand of smartwatches.

So If you are interested to know which smartwatches are currently available for purchase now, we are presenting to you this simple guide.

Samsung Gear S

Sporting a unique, curved AMOLED display, the Samsung Gear S has the distinction of being one of the few smartwatches that do not need to be paired with a smartphone. It has its own SIM card, which means it can take calls, receive and reply to text messages, and even compose emails, all on its own without the help of a smartphone. It also comes with a heart rate monitor.

Samsung Gear 2

The Samsung Gear 2 runs on Samsung's Tizen wearable device operating system and only works with specific Galaxy devices. It has a built-in camera and also features a heart rate monitor.

Samsung Gear Live

Quite similar to the Samsung Gear Live, though with lesser features, the Samsung Gear Live runs on Android Wear and features an AMOLED display. Users may view it as more watch than modern wearable device, but still, it is ideal for daily use.

LG G Watch R

Considered one of the best Android Wear smartwatches out there, the LG G Watch R comes with a round-shaped display (320 by 320 AMOLED display) and a 410 mAh battery that promises users two full days worth of battery life.

Motorola Moto 360

Perhaps one of the most popular smartwatches today, the Moto 360 runs on Android Wear and has loads of features. But makes it stand out is its stylish design, which features a sleek, circular watch face that features an LCD screen with unparalleled definition. Also, the fact that it offers wireless charging certainly does not hurt.

Sony SmartWatch 3

The Sony SmartWatch 3 is the first Android Wear watch to have built-in GPS connectivity, which would be a useful thing to have especially for users who like to run. It boasts 4 gigabytes of internal storage, which is great for storing some songs, then listening to them via a pair of Bluetooth headphones while you are out on a jog.

Qualcomm Toq

The  Qualcomm Toq features a Mirasol display, which makes for great viewing when you are outdoors in the sun.

The Pebble

One of the most successful Kickstarter projects of all time, the Pebble works with both Android smartphones and iPhones. It is available in many colors and has a rather simple but functional display.

The Pebble Steel

The Pebble Steel retains some of the multi-app compatibility of the original Pebble, and then incorporates elegant metal housing and leather strap options.
