FCC releases broadband map detailing LTE coverage
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently released its new broadband map that indicates cellular coverage in the country. The map gets its data directly from AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon Wireless, so you’re sure it is up-to-date.
Unfortunately, this broadband map does not reveal home internet availability. Instead, you can use the map to locate where the LTE and voice coverage of wireless providers are available.
The availability of such a map follows the Broadband Deployment Accuracy and Technological Availability (DATA) Act. It was signed into law in March 2020.
As of this writing, the map does not contain any information on the kind of speeds users can get in a certain area. It also does not provide 5G coverage. Hopefully, this will change in the future as the FCC improves the features of the map.
