Some Verizon Wireless Customers Still Experiencing Network Issues

It looks like some Verizon customers have been dealing with a network outage since yesterday.

As reported by PhoneArena, customers have been experiencing a problem since 9:00 am EDT on June 29. The complaints on DownDetector peaked by 3:00 pm EDT.

Out of the complaints received, most customers experienced an issue with their mobile phones. There were 24% of complaints about signal connectivity. Meanwhile, 19% complaints were of a total service blackout.

Even though the complaints died down later in the day, they seem to have peaked again by 1:00 am EDT today.

When the issue first came up, Verizon tweeted:

"Fiber cuts in the Evansville area are causing a disruption in service for customers in and around the area. Our engineers are working with our third-party fiber provider to get those cuts fixed and service restored. We still do not have an estimated time."

But a customer spoke with a Verizon representative who said that the outage was caused by the storm in Evansville. Apparently, the storm took out a tower that “feeds a large portion of signal to most of western Kentucky, southern Indiana, and parts of western Tennessee.” It is said that other carriers are affected but Verizon’s seem to be the hardest hit.

If you are among those who are having issues with your Verizon service, you may want to check for an update from Big Red from time to time.
