T-Mobile releases 2021 Scam and Robocall Report
The major wireless carriers in the country have been doing their best to fight off scammers and robocalls. T-Mobile has released its first ever end-of-year wireless scam report to show just how hard they’ve been working to protect customers.
In the report, the Un-carrier documented an increase of 116% of scam attempts made from the start of the year up to December 14th. They also predicted to receive 110 billion calls this year. Despite this, T-Mobile has been able to block more than 21 billion scam calls, thanks to its Scam Shield blocker.
T-Mobile shares that they were able to block 3.5 times more calls compared to AT&T’s own scam blocker solution. In addition to this, T-Mobile’s “Scam Likely” label does its job better and is 99% more accurate compared to its rivals.
“Attempted scam calls hit record highs in 2021, but with Scam Shield we identified or blocked over 21 billion calls this year – or 700 calls per second! – for customers. We are the only provider protecting every single customer, regardless of their plan or device,” T-Mobile Consumer Group President, Jon Freier said. “Scammers are relentless, but so are we. We are doing everything we can to make their job as hard as possible. Scam Shield leverages T-Mobile’s powerful network to help keep our customers protected in real time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
T-Mobile launched Scam Shield in July 2020. The full report can be found here.
