Visible Counters Mint Mobile's Switcher Offer
Mint Mobile has just rolled out a compelling offer aimed squarely at customers of AT&T and Verizon Wireless. The T-Mobile-owned brand is offering three months of free service to those who switch and add four lines to their account. Not one to be outdone, Verizon’s prepaid brand, Visible, quickly responded with a counteroffer.
Visible announced earlier today that they’re offering T-Mobile postpaid customers a rate of $15 per month per line, locked in for five years. This is a savvy move by Visible, as T-Mobile has recently made headlines for increasing its prices.
In a press release, Nancy Clark, President of Verizon Value, emphasized that Mint Mobile's offer is only a "short-term deal that won’t last." She further highlighted that Visible is focused on providing ongoing savings, transparent pricing, and no hidden fees.
Mint’s promotion only lasts for the first three months, after which the lines will revert to the standard $40 per month plan. Visible’s press release took a jab at this, noting that after the three-month period, customers would face a hefty $600 bill for five lines, plus taxes and fees. The release also pointed out that Mint's "unlimited" plan is actually capped at 40 GB of data before slowing down, making the deal less attractive.
Visible’s strategy targets T-Mobile’s postpaid single-line customers by offering them a “Visible plan for $15 per month (including taxes and fees) with a five-year price guarantee.”
To take advantage of Visible’s offer, customers need to use the code BYEBYETMO at checkout. It remains to be seen how T-Mobile will respond or if AT&T will jump into the fray with its own offer.
