iPhone 6: What Buyers Can Expect

The iPhone 6 will be officially unveiled on September 9. It is easily the most anticipated mobile device this year. As for those who can not wait to get their hands on the latest iPhone version, here is what to expect:

• There are two versions. Of course, nothing is ever certain at this point. But there are plenty of signs (or rumors) that indicate that the newest iPhone may come in two models: one that comes in 4.7 inches and the other 5.5 inches. Size-wise, the 4.7-inch model is not a far departure from the current version, the iPhone 5s. The 5.5-inch version, on the other hand, would contend with the Samsung Galaxy S5 or the HTC One (M8).

• Thin is in. Fans no doubt have seen hundreds of leaked images of the iPhone 6. One can not say for sure which photo is legit and which is nothing more than hearsay. But experts are betting that the iPhone 6 will be thinner than its predecessor.

• Improved camera. There are reports suggesting that the latest iPhone iteration will boast a 13-megapixel camera, or a 10-megapixel camera that has an f/1.8 aperture. Whatever the camera will turn out to be, fans can rest assured that it is going to impress, just like any iPhone version has done before.

• Sapphire screen. This is far from a sure thing. Weeks ago, it has been reported that Apple was undergoing some issues with the production of its sapphire display screens. But on the other hand, this is Apple we are talking about -- if there is anybody who can pull this off, it is definitely them. So do not count out the possibility of a sapphire screen iPhone 6 just yet.

• New and better sensors. iPhone 6 will purportedly feature a more accurate Touch ID sensor, although the design and functionality may stay the same. Other rumored new sensors include one that measures air pressure. Then there is NFC technology -- several publications have reported that Apple is planning to incorporate this technology on the new iPhone in order to facilitate mobile payments.

• A8 processor. There is a big possibility that this year's most anticipated new smartphone will feature an A8 processor, which should offer extra processing speed. On top of that, the iPhone 6 is expected to have a much faster random access memory (RAM).

• Larger battery. If the larger screens turn out to be true, then a bigger battery is almost a given in order to power the display. Reports regarding battery size vary, and most likely compounded by the rumor that there may be two versions of the new iPhone.

• iOS 8. Amidst the anticipation over the iPhone 6's features, let us not forget that the phone will be running on the latest version of the iOS -- the iOS 8. Users can expect more user-friendly widgets, easier OSX integration, and surely, new apps and systems like HomeKit and HealthKit, among many others.

• The release date. It is probably the most important piece of information, especially for those dead set in getting the iPhone 6 as soon as possible. No release date has been made public yet, but if previous version's releases are any indication, it might be ten days after the phone's official announcement. That would be September 19. But, as mentioned before, nothing is certain yet.

But come September 9, that could change. In the meantime, Apple enthusiasts eagerly await.
