Last year, Apple did not allow pre-orders for the iPhone 5. This year though, Apple fans will be delighted to know that the phone maker is welcoming pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus beginning tonight at 12:01 AM Pacific Time.
If you are one of those who can not wait to buy the latest iPhone version, here is a pre-ordering guide that might help.
The Advantages of Pre-Ordering
Why wait for several hours (or even days) lining up for the iPhone 6 when you can have the device delivered to you on September 19? That is, if you were able to successfully pre-order ahead of time. Sure, delivery times may vary -- but if you are a stickler for timeliness, it might be best to pre-order as early as possible. If you wait too long, you will still get your new iPhone, but it might be delivered to you after September 19, which would totally be uncool.
Are You Eligible?
It pays to check your eligibility status before pre-ordering. This way, you get a better idea of the price you will pay and what options are available to you. For instance, if your current iPhone was bought two years ago, then you are likely eligible for an upgrade. If you purchased the iPhone 5S last year, then an upgrade is probably out of the question.
Choose Wisely
You will be competing with millions of other would-be buyers come pre-order opening time, so definitely do not want to waste precious seconds trying to figure out which model to buy, which color to pick, or which amount of storage to select. Decide on everything hours before you pre-order. That way, you can race through the process without unneeded pause.
Set Your Alarm Clock
Well, unless you are a regular night owl, it might be best to set your alarm clock a few minutes before midnight (or if you are based in the East Coast, right around 3 AM), and make sure you have enough snooze allowance. But on second thought, you probably will not be sleeping anyway with all that excitement.

As of this writing, only Apple and selected carriers are welcoming pre-orders for the iPhone 6. Other retailers like Walmart and Best Buy may be authorized to sell the devices, but as far as we know, they are not taking pre-orders yet. That leaves us with the following:

Minutes before the pre-order opening time, you could be refreshing your browser only to find out that instead of the pre-order page, your browser is repeatedly displaying the cached web page after the clock has already struck 12:01. Do not lose those precious seconds. Be prepared -- have another different browser ready just in case.

Paying online generally means filling out forms with personal and credit card information. You can save time by preparing a document or notepad, and then just copy and paste all the information in the corresponding fields. Make sure the information is correct though.
