AT&T may have found a way to lessen the cost of its monthly phone plans
AT&T may have found a way to help make monthly cellphone bills more affordable for its customers.
Yesterday, AT&T CEO John Stankey revealed that they are considering offering a discount on their plans in exchange for ads. The CEO shared that if this strategy will be approved, it would be implemented a year from now.
Right now, there’s not a lot of information available on this proposed subsidized cellphone plan strategy. But Stankey shares that:
“I believe there’s a segment of our customer base where given a choice, they would take some load of advertising for a $5 or $10 reduction in their mobile bill.”
Once this proposed monthly plan discount would go in effect, AT&T believes its launch of a new HBO Max version will be a “foundational element” for the plan. This is because this will bring in new advertising inventory and play a crucial role to new ad-supported phone plans.
If it happens, will you be in favor for a $5 or $10 discount in exchange for some ads on your phone?
