It Turns Out “Nutrition Labels” on Broadband Facts Aren’t a Prank

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are now required to be more transparent about their broadband services. The new federal regulations require these companies to display this information like a food product would display its “nutrition label.”

By displaying this information, ISPs will have a harder time disguising hidden charges. Although it won’t completely eradicate such charges, it will help protect consumers against bill shock.

At the same time, customers are able to use this information to compare the different offerings that their providers have.

At the start of April, T-Mobile announced that it had already displayed its “nutrition label” on its website. But since the announcement was made on April 1st, it was easy to dismiss it as an April Fool’s prank.

After T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and Google Fi announced that they have also published their broadband labels on their websites.
