Sprint’s Final Dates Detailed
Would you believe it’s been three years since T-Mobile and Sprint merged. If you kept up with the acquisition drama, you can probably recall that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) was initially against the merger for fear that there won’t be a fourth player. But during acquisition talks, this was appeased by Dish Network, who promised to stand in for that role.
And ever since the acquisition, T-Mobile has made several changes to its plans. Sprint customers, on the other hand, were given several offers to migrate to T-Mo’s network before the Sprint CDMA network shutdown. And now, it looks like the final days of Sprint are upon us.
This week, internal documents detailing Sprint’s final timeline were leaked to The Mobile Report. The report shared three dates being prepared for Sprint’s shutdown. These dates are:
-
May 26, 2023: Sprint’s in-store systems will be shut down for ordering devices. After today, customers can have their orders shipped to their addresses. Existing orders can only be picked up until June 9.
-
June 10, 2023: Most of Sprint’s in-store transactions will no longer be available. Customers can only make express payments and pick up their devices through retail channels. Remorse returns are accepted.
-
June 25, 2023: All Sprint transactions will stop.
After June 25, customers can make payments via the Sprint website or app. But this will also stop eventually.
If you’re still part of the very “small subset of customers” who still has a Sprint account, you may need to remember these dates.
